Zandkraal is situated along the banks of the Brandewyn River nestled between the Agter-Pakhuis Mountains, in the magnificent Cederberg region.
It is approximately 30 minutes drive outside of Clanwilliam, and 2½ hours drive from Cape Town along the N7. You will enjoy the picturesque drive over the Pakhuys Pass from Clanwilliam to Zandkraal Private Nature Reserve, as it is renowned for its spectacular landscapes and rock formations - a giants playground of remarkable shapes and forms - as well as the increasingly rare Clanwilliam Cedar tree.
The 1250 hectare working farm is owned by Richard and Lauren Horton. It boasts approximately 260 head of game on it, which include Giraffe, Zebra, Gemsbok, Blesbok, Springbok, Eland, Black Wildebees, and free roaming Leopards, Caracal and Jackal. There are more than 100 bird species that occur here, with the Black Eagle, Fish Eagle, Rock Kestrel and Jackal Buzzard being the most common raptors. Innumerable species of insects and reptiles occur, as well as Boran Stud Cattle, Dorper Sheep, and a few Wild horses.
Our comfortable self-catering accommodation offers you the opportunity to relax and unwind in this breathtakingly beautiful farm environment. All units are fully equipped with linen, bath towels, refrigerator, microwave, modern bathroom facillities, 1 crate of braai wood, etc.
